PC gaming setup for 2026 upcoming games.

The back half of 2026 is starting to look like an exciting period in PC gaming. You are likely noticing that developers are finally moving away from older hardware constraints. This means more immersive environments and smoother performance, so you can put your rig to the test. You should keep a close eye on these six games as they prepare to launch in the coming months.

1. Forza Horizon 6

The rumors that have dominated the racing community for years were finally confirmed. The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan. Forza Horizon 6 is a technical showcase for what modern PC hardware can achieve. Fans will find themselves navigating the neon streets of Tokyo and the winding, misty mountain passes of the Japanese Alps.

With over 500 cars available on day one and a staggering 662 roads to discover, the sense of digital tourism here is going to be potent. Be ready to spend hours drifting through a multi-story parking garage designed specifically for community car meets or testing your reflexes against high-speed Shinkansen trains that share the open world.

Whether you’re exploring hidden shrines tucked away in the misty forests or tearing through dedicated grassroots drift circuits, the level of environmental detail ensures your Japanese driving fantasy is as immersive as it is technically innovative. With an official release date set for May 19, gamers and car fans alike are ready to explore the fast-paced world of Forza Horizon 6.

2. ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies

If you enjoyed the cerebral depth of Disco Elysium, ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies offers a familiar but evolved experience. This espionage RPG will be navigated through the lens of Hershel Wilk, cryptonym CASCAADE, a burnt-out operant returning to Portofiro, a tropical and ideologically fractured city-state. You will navigate a world caught between global superpowers, figuring out the many secrets hidden within the city and in the minds of its citizens.

What’s interesting about this game is that your mind is your primary tool, rather than relying on weaponry. You have to manage three distinct health bars — Fatigue, Anxiety and Delirium. Players will find themselves figuring out the best way to exert these components, trading mental and physical stability for an extra die to roll. This mechanic ensures that every conversation has the same strategic weight as a full-on firefight. This experimental game seems like the perfect setting for those late-night gaming sessions.

3. Gothic 1 Remake

In June, gamers will have the opportunity to return to one of the most infamously brutal worlds in RPG history. Released over 20 years ago, Gothic 1 amassed a cult following thanks to its one-of-a-kind atmosphere. Fans loved how the game approached progression, making users feel like they really earned their advancement in the game’s world.

What makes this title stand out for modern audiences is its commitment to systemic realism. You start the journey as a nameless prisoner in a harsh penal colony. You have to then navigate a world where every NPC has a life of its own and every creature you encounter has its role in the ecosystem. On PC, the game is developed using Unreal Engine 5. Gamers can expect the “Lumen” lighting system to bring a new dimension to the damp caves of the Old Mine. If watching your character grow from a vulnerable outcast to a seasoned warrior through hard work and strategic skill-building sounds like an entertaining time to you, the Gothic 1 Remake is one to watch out for.

4. The Blood of Dawnwalker

Coming from the veterans who crafted Witcher 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker might be the most highly anticipated original IP of the year. The dark fantasy RPG set in a reimagined 14th-century Europe will launch in early September. You play as Coen, a man destined for a cursed existence in a world where time is your most precious resource. There is a strict 30-day and 30-night cycle to save your family from a vampire threat, and how you spend that time is entirely up to you.

As you succumb to the curse, you will gain access to a suite of supernatural abilities that shift how you perceive the game’s challenges. There is a strong sense of autonomy that defines The Blood of Dawnwalker’s gameplay. Most requests can go unanswered, which gives players a unique sense of ownership rarely seen. Yet, you will find that every decision in this long journey carries a grimmer weight than you might expect.

5. Phantom Blade Zero

With Phantom Blade Zero, the pace picks up significantly. In fact, the main character only has 66 days to live. You play as Soul, who’s an elite assassin hunting down those who framed him for the murder of his mentor. From what we’ve seen, this game is going to be a masterclass in cinematic action, featuring combat as fluid as a high-budget martial arts film.

While the game will be exclusive to the PS5 for 12 months, PC gamers can enjoy it the moment it launches in September. While this game will be a true test of frame-rate stability, users with rigs that can handle it are in for an exciting time. For cinematic single-player games like these, having a 4K monitor is a strong advantage.

6. Fable (Reboot)

The Fable reboot is one of the most high-stakes projects in recent memory. The team at Playground Games will develop the title, aiming to strike a balance between technical improvements and retaining the series’ roots in character-driven morality. Clearly, revitalizing a beloved franchise for a new generation is no small task.

With the game taking place in the fictional continent of Albion, you can explore a vast world with magical forests and sprawling streets. Furthermore, players can enjoy the meticulous combat system that seamlessly integrates magic, melee and ranged attacks. Most importantly, longtime fans hope the game maintains its lighthearted tone that made the original so memorable.

Currently, the game is expected to release in the autumn. For gamers living in areas with intense winters, exploring the warm world of Fable in the comfort of your home would be a solid way of spending it.

Closing the Year Strong

Thankfully, there is no shortage of great PC game titles coming out in 2026. From fresh ideas to revitalized classics, avid gamers don’t have to worry about having boring moments in the coming months.
